Introduction to Major Public Administration
Our dedication to excellence in all fields of executive, legislative, and the judiciary branches, public enterprises and international organizations, and our encouragement of leadership in diverse fields is evident. We focus on government and public sector organizing principles and policy formation and implementation with a strong grounding on advanced knowledge. The Keimyung University Department of Public Administration was established in 1980, our graduates have been demonstrated leadership in their chosen professions, including the political and social fields.
We have conducted the most ambitious curriculum reform, reflecting the trends of the times for the strategic development of Public Administration study. We host 10 eminent faculty members and students strive to advance the field through research. Major in Public Administration graduates have achieved leadership status in various fields above and beyond government service. In particular, our alumni have gained professional status in diverse economic fields. such as private business, financial organizations, public enterprises, the media, and non-governmental organizations and international organizations.
Major in Public Administration hosts an orientation session for those who art preparing to enter the field of Public Administration and new-comers. The Student Council hosts the students' general meeting, a warp-up party, Freshman orientation, MT with faculty members, and a tear-end party, Students can gain assistance from the community bulletin board, such as student notice, class information, examination and job opportunity information, and suggestions.
Public Administration Studies
Public administration is primarily concerned with the interactions between citizens, the public sector, and the private sector, and searches for the better way: a comprehensive design for the efficient organization ti implement public policies and programmes as well as balanced development to help pave the wat for the future. Also, public administration is an academic discipline that studies the implementation of government policy which reflects and inter-disciplinary approach for the better analysis of complex public problems. With macroscopic and analytic perspective, the Major in Public Administration program offer unique opportunities for students to perform as highly effective experts.
For undergraduates, the Major in Public administration offers courses to strengthen basic knowledge such as Introduction to Public Administration, Organizational Theory in Public Administration and Policy Studies to understand various phenomenon related with government. These courses serve to enhance basic understanding of public administration studies, government management, the operation of government, as well as policy formation and implementation. Furthermore, Research Methods, Intergovernmental Relations, Political Thought and democracy courses provides frameworks to understand administrative phenomenon and its relation with democracy. These courses are recommended to be taken in the freshmen or sophomore year.
After attaining this basic knowledge, it is recommended to take courses related to four major "stands" (categories). First of all, students can gain more specific knowledge on public management related to personal management, budgeting, and leadership through the Administrative/Management strand. Second, Policy strand courses designed to expand knowledge related to policy formation, analysis, and evaluation, and specific policy areas such as welfare. environment, and scientific technology. Thirdly, the Administrative/Policy strand offers understanding on government-related environments in legal, economic, and institutional perspectives.
